Jarrett McPeek

I’m currently a senior director and digital content guru at KPIX TV in San Francisco. My passion is in visual storytelling through photographs and video. But, you can’t tell important stories without knowing how to showcase them on the right platforms and in the right technical parameters… So, I guess you can say I’m artist meets “geek.” I enjoy stylizing projects to fit brand, mood, and message using sound design, post-production motion graphics, and I have a keen eye for detail.

It all started at the University of Montana where I majored in R/TV and minored in Advertising. With over 15 years as a director, managing production teams in the studio and in the field, I know how to maximize resources and deliver projects with professionalism and precision.

JM’s work as a photographer is regularly published in:

Windsurfing Magazine
Standup Journal Magazine
Windsport Magazine
The New England Windsurfing Journal
The World Kite and Windsurfing Guide

I don’t brag as much as Sue, but I’ve acquired a few pieces of “hardware”:

2010 Emmy Nomination, Director, Continuing Coverage
2009 Emmy Award, Director, Best Daytime Newscast – Larger Market
2009 Emmy Nomination, Director, Advanced Media – News Programming
2009 Emmy Nomination, Director, Continuing Coverage
2007 Emmy Award, Director, Best Evening Newscast – Larger Market
2006 Emmy Nomination, Director, Best Evening Newscast – Larger Market
1995 Emmy Award, Director, Documentary – State of Discontent
1995 UM School of Journalism Broadcast Faculty Award

I’m currently the Director and Chief Editor of Editorial and Multimedia at Gap Inc. I’m told that means I’m the “Chief Storyteller” within Gap Inc and help the company and its 5 brands leverage the power of video in internal and external communications. This is a dream opportunity considering I’ve been obsessed in recent years with broadcast to internet video conversion. And, there are a million great stories to tell in a company that “gets it” when it comes to visual communications.

My interest in “words” started as a student writing for the Stanford Daily. I studied documentary film at Oxford and worked in TV news for the better part of my 20s and 30s. Because I have a lot of “inner nerd” – I covered technology, Silicon Valley business trends, and consumer issues for most of that time. But, don’t let that fool you. I don’t take myself too seriously and think that’s what helps me keep videos emotional, compelling, and down-to-earth.

I talk a lot. As you can see I host and emcee events for:

Accenture’s International Women’s Day
Girls in Tech
SF Volunteer Center
Asian Law Caucus
Asian Pacific Islander Legal Outreach Center
Chinese for Affirmative Action
SF Army Corp of Engineers
University of California Berkeley CAL-TV
BizTechDay Entrepreneur’s Competition
Korean American Chamber of Commerce
San Francisco Chamber of Commerce Women Innovators Conference
Stanford University Intl. News & Inclusion Summit
Korean Cultural Center of SF

And I spend a lot of money on entering awards – to make my Korean parents proud:

2010 Associated Press First Place Mark Twain Journalism Award
2009 Poynter Institute Fellowship in Best Practices in Multimedia Journalism
2008, 2007, 2005 National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Emmy Award Winner
2005 Asian American Journalists Assoc. National Award for General News Story
2004 Award of Distinction in International Communicator Awards Competition
2004 National Press Organization Fellowship in Business Reporting
2004 National Federation of Press Women First Place Broadcast News Story
2004 Peninsula Press Club Honorable Mention for TV News Feature
2004 Association of Women Journalists Vivian Castelberry National Finalist

Testimonials

“Sue and Jarrett are a remarkable team; they work beautifully together and helped to coach and capture very sharp clips of some of our aspiring entrepreneurs. “Our business message is not just about products and services. It’s about the company’s philosophy and values. Pushloop gets it. They were true professionals from how they managed and executed our DVD project to how they interacted with our customers.
