This is one of the pieces Pushloop created for the 4 full-length rear projection monitors in the San Francisco de Young Museum’s Kimball Gallery. Corinne Okada was a 2009 featured artist with a complex cultural past and colorful personality. It was important to convey her depth as a human being while showcasing her brilliant sculptures. This was achieved by interviewing Corey on camera and weaving together poignant soundbites, so she could illustrate – in her own words – what inspires her to create her wire and paper sculptures. The piece was left to breathe and unfold as she carefully demonstrated the process of creating her art. Her story came alive with process sequences, still photographs, old prints, original sound design, and 3d work using Adobe After Effects.
A strong profile piece leaves the viewer feeling a “connection” and that was certainly achieved as Corinne Okada educated and enlightened hundreds of museum visitors as well as audiences all around the world.
